Not of the purist class, such as Elway and Marino, but more than made up for it with BALLS the size of.....erm....MONTANA?

There's an obvious answer here.
The greatest QB of all time is noneother than Brett Lorenzo Favre.
The Legend of Favre started in the town of Gulfport, Mississippi, where a small demigod was born. Although he was already stronger at birth than ten Reggie Whites, his parents taught him to always keep a boyish grin on his face and a crap-stained hat on his head.
That boy grew up to revolutionize a sport, as he completely changed the definition of "quarterback". What used to be a position for people who threw the ball became a position for "gunslingers".
That's right. Favre brought the Wild Wild West back.
Brett also discovered the wonders of the Super Bowl, and decided it was the next mortal thing to conquer.
After destroying the rest of the NFL, he felt that petty mortal things such as the SB meant nothing to him. He needed a challenge. So he magnanimously gave John Elway a SB victory.
But no one is the equal of Favre.
Instead he decided to own every record ever in the NFL and stand supreme over all, even if it took 20 years.
He did so and continues his legacy.
Brett Favre is, in fact, the greatest QB of all time.
Just ask John Madden.

Career stats are superb! Great leader of men and as tough as they get!
Joe Monatna is not the man of career stats and the like. He just did the job when he had to. Ice in his veins!

MVP of Super Bowl ........THREE TIMES!!!!
And that is not to mention the road he had to travel to get to these title matches!
Yeah, he had a great cast as well as "director" around him, BUT he was the man at the helm, and he handled it with unbelievable aplomb!!
Don't forget that he was only a third year man when they won the first title under his guidance!
He was a legend even as he was playing.

Try Leader of the Gods.
Soon Favre will conquer those atop Olympus and will reign over all beings on this measley planet. He will be benevolent with his boyish playfulness, but a stern leader with his cannon for an arm.
And did you not read? Super Bowls mean nothing to Brett Favre. He's been there, done that. Brett Fave has become larger than the Super Bowl. He's larger than every single one of Madden's Turduckens put together.
He has demolished all statistics, while garnering love from his subjects.
And ice in his veins? Favre invented ice. Favre gave God the idea for our circulatory system.
The simple truth is that without Brett Favre, Joe Montana would not exist. There would be no reason for those in the Heavens to give Man the idea for football if they had not already planned for Favre to visit us in 1969.
Favre was a legend long before his years with the Pack, and will continue to be into his days post-football.
Brett Favre defines toid, because he's got all of it.
